Fellow sailors,
We had a most enjoyable cruise down to Greystones on Monday. We managed on short notice to have four boats with eleven crew participating. The Beach House won out again with dining alfresco.
Another short-notice trip: The suggestion came up that some of us might depart for Howth; next Tuesday morning, leaving by 1.00pm sharp. We’d have lunch in Howth and return late afternoon.
Again it’s very short notice but can anyone who is interested contact me and we’ll see how many boats – and members to crew them – would be involved?
A longer cruise in June: On a longer more relaxed perspective Joe advises he’ll be leaving to sail south to Kinsale and then on around the South-West at an easy pace departing 16th June. Several faster DMYC boats leaving around the 18th June will catch up with Joe and the rest of us in Kinsale.
Are any of us in our more leisurely boats interested in accompanying Joe – at least as far as Kinsale and stopping at Arklow, Kilmore Quay and maybe Cork Harbour along the way? Please consider it. We’ll have the benefit of the longer days. It may be some of us will choose to join for all or part of the cruise. I’d imagine we’re talking about a fortnight; always depending on the weather. Personally I’m interested.
Please consider it and come back to me with your ideas.
Cruising-in-company has been organised by the club for nearly twenty years. It’s a genial way to build up friendships with occasional excitement. Someone long ago defined it as “95% monotony and 5% panic.” It’s always great fun. All are welcome.
Best wishes,
Liam Owens
